ZAMDA COMMUNITY GUIDELINES & SAFETY
Stay Safe, Trade Smart, Build Community
Welcome to Zamda! These Community Guidelines are designed to keep our marketplace safe, respectful, and trustworthy for everyone. By using Zamda, you agree to follow these guidelines. Our goal is to create a positive environment where neighbors can buy and sell with confidence.
Your safety is our top priority. Please read these guidelines carefully and follow our safety recommendations for every transaction.
1. COMMUNITY STANDARDS
1.1 Be Respectful and Honest
Treat all users with respect and courtesy. Do not engage in harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech, discrimination, or abusive behavior based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Always communicate honestly and accurately describe your items.
1.2 No Fraud or Scams
Do not attempt to defraud, mislead, or scam other users. This includes posting fake listings, misrepresenting items, using stolen photos, requesting payment outside the platform for platform fees, creating fake accounts, or engaging in any deceptive practices. All listings must be genuine and accurately represent the item or service being offered.
1.3 Follow the Law
You are responsible for ensuring that your activities on Zamda comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Do not use Zamda for any illegal purpose, including selling prohibited items, facilitating illegal transactions, or engaging in criminal activity.
1.4 Respect Intellectual Property
Do not post content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others. This includes counterfeit goods, unauthorized use of copyrighted images, trademarks, or brand names. Only post photos and descriptions that you own or have permission to use.
1.5 No Spam or Unsolicited Contact
Do not post duplicate listings, spam, or irrelevant content. Do not use the messaging system to send unsolicited advertisements, promotional materials, or mass messages. All communications should be directly related to legitimate buying or selling transactions.
1.6 One Account Per Person
Each user may maintain only one active account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent bans, manipulate reviews, or engage in fraudulent activity is strictly prohibited and will result in permanent suspension of all accounts.
2. SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR BUYERS AND SELLERS
2.1 Meet in Safe, Public Locations
ALWAYS meet in well-lit, public places with other people around. Recommended safe meeting locations include:
- Police station parking lots or designated Safe Exchange Zones (many police departments offer these)
- Public shopping centers or malls during business hours
- Coffee shops, restaurants, or grocery stores
- Bank lobbies (especially for high-value transactions)
- Gas stations with security cameras and good lighting
- Community centers or libraries
NEVER meet at your home, the buyer's/seller's home, or any secluded or isolated location, especially for first-time transactions.
2.2 Use Safe Exchange Zones at Police Stations
Many local police departments across the United States offer designated "Safe Exchange Zones" or "Internet Purchase Exchange Locations" in their parking lots. These areas are monitored by security cameras and provide a safe, neutral location for completing online transactions. We strongly encourage you to use these zones, especially for high-value items such as electronics, jewelry, vehicles, or large amounts of cash.
To find a Safe Exchange Zone near you, contact your local police department or visit their website. Most departments welcome legitimate buyers and sellers to use these areas during business hours.
2.3 Bring a Friend or Family Member
Never meet a stranger alone, especially for high-value transactions or when meeting someone for the first time. Bring a trusted friend or family member with you. Let someone know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to return. Share the listing details and the person's contact information with a friend.
2.4 Inspect Items Thoroughly Before Paying
Always inspect items carefully in person before handing over payment. For electronics, test them to ensure they work properly. For vehicles, request a test drive and consider getting a pre-purchase inspection by a mechanic. For clothing or shoes, check for damage, wear, or authenticity. Never pay for an item without seeing and inspecting it first.
2.5 Use Cash for In-Person Transactions
We recommend using cash for in-person transactions to avoid scams. If using digital payment methods (such as Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or Cash App), only send payment after you have received and inspected the item. Be aware that some digital payment platforms do not offer buyer protection for person-to-person transactions.
2.6 NEVER Wire Money or Use Untraceable Payment Methods
NEVER send money via wire transfer (Western Union, MoneyGram), prepaid debit cards, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or any other untraceable payment method to someone you haven't met in person. These payment methods are commonly used by scammers because they are nearly impossible to reverse or trace. Legitimate local sellers will accept cash or standard payment methods upon meeting in person.
2.7 Trust Your Instincts
If something feels wrong, suspicious, or too good to be true, trust your instincts and walk away. Common red flags include: sellers who refuse to meet in person, buyers who offer to pay more than the asking price, requests to use unusual payment methods, pressure to act quickly, poor grammar or spelling in messages, requests to communicate outside the Zamda platform, or deals that seem too good to be true.
2.8 Protect Your Personal Information
Do not share sensitive personal information (such as your home address, financial account details, Social Security number, or passwords) with other users until you have established trust. Use the Zamda messaging system to communicate until you are ready to meet in person. Be cautious about sharing your phone number or email address with strangers.
2.9 Beware of Common Scams
Be aware of common online marketplace scams, including:
- Overpayment scams: Buyer sends a check for more than the asking price and asks you to refund the difference
- Fake payment confirmations: Scammer sends a fake email claiming payment has been sent
- Shipping scams: Buyer requests you ship the item and promises to pay later (they never pay)
- Rental scams: Fake landlords request deposits for properties they don't own
- Employment scams: Fake job postings requesting personal information or upfront fees
- Phishing scams: Messages with links designed to steal your login credentials or personal information
If you encounter any of these scams, report the user immediately and do not proceed with the transaction.
3. REPORTING VIOLATIONS AND ENFORCEMENT
3.1 Report Suspicious Activity
If you encounter a user or listing that violates these Community Guidelines, engages in suspicious behavior, or makes you feel unsafe, please report it immediately. You can report users or listings by clicking the "Report" button on the listing page or user profile. Our team will investigate all reports and take appropriate action.
3.2 Block Users
You can block any user who harasses you, sends unwanted messages, or makes you uncomfortable. Blocked users will not be able to view your listings, send you messages, or contact you through the platform.

protection - Keep records of all communications and transactions

For Buyers:
- Research the fair market value of items before purchasing to avoid overpaying

5. SPECIAL GUIDELINES FOR VEHICLE TRANSACTIONS
Vehicle transactions require extra precaution due to their high value and complexity:
- Meet at a public location such as a police station, DMV, or busy parking lot
- Always test drive the vehicle and inspect it thoroughly (check engine, brakes, tires, interior, exterior)
- Request a vehicle history report (Carfax, AutoCheck) and verify the VIN matches the title
- Consider hiring a trusted mechanic to perform a pre-purchase inspection
- Verify that the seller is the legal owner by checking the title and registration
- Complete the title transfer at the DMV to ensure legal ownership
- Never pay in full until you have received the title and keys
- Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true or sellers who pressure you to act quickly
6. SPECIAL GUIDELINES FOR RENTAL AND REAL ESTATE LISTINGS
Rental and real estate scams are common on online marketplaces. Protect yourself by following these guidelines:
- NEVER send money (deposits, application fees, rent) before seeing the property in person
- Verify the landlord's identity and ownership of the property (check public property records)
- Be suspicious of landlords who claim to be out of town and cannot show the property
- Meet the landlord or property manager in person and tour the property
- Request a formal lease agreement and read it carefully before signing
- Verify that utilities are included or transferable
- Be cautious of prices significantly below market value
- If the deal feels rushed or the landlord is evasive, it's likely a scam

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited on Zamda:
- Posting fake, fraudulent, or misleading listings
- Impersonating another person, business, or entity
- Harassing, threatening, or intimidating other users
- Using hate speech, discriminatory language, or offensive content
